The Peekskill Police Department has announced that, effective immediately, the suspension of the alternate side of the street parking rules in the City of Peekskill has been lifted and winter parking regulations will now be enforced.
“This was done following a discussion between the chief of police and director of the DPW and after carefully looking at several forecasts calling for measurable snow Saturday,” explained Peekskill Chief of Police Eric Johansen in a Friday press release. “The goal of the winter parking ordinance is to allow for the efficient and safe removal of snow and ice from city streets following winter storms. This can only be done with the cooperation of all motorists who, we hope, will get in the habit of parking on the proper side of the street for the remainder of the winter.”
