Several area agencies—including Peekskill Fire Department, Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Westchester County Police, Continental Village Fire Department and Yorktown Fire Department Dive Team—responded to a call of a submerged vehicle under the Jan Peek Bridge Saturday morning. When crews removed the vehicle around 10:45 a.m., no occupants of the vehicle had been located, according to personnel on the scene.
At this time, due to current water levels, it is not clear how long the vehicle had been under the water.
The car, as can be seen in photo at right, has been removed from the river. The Peekskill Post has been told the matter is now under police investigation.
We will update this matter as additional information comes in.
