Peekskill Mayor Frank Catalina announced Friday that Scenic Hudson Park at Peekskill Landing has been voted a winner of Westchester Magazine’s Annual Best of Westchester Reader’s ballot in the category of Best Public Park, and will be featured in the magazine’s upcoming Best of Westchester issue.

“While we are very proud of our entire waterfront, I am especially proud of the public/private partnership between Peekskill and Scenic Hudson that brought about this award winning park,” Catalina said in a Friday evening press release. “We look forward to the completion of the Southern Walkway, to Lent’s Cove, in the near future. That will complete a three-mile walkway covering the entire city waterfront boundary. These waterfront improvements, completed in the past three years, represent a complete transformation of the waterfront and brings thousands of residents out throughout the year to enjoy the beautiful river.”

The mayor thanked the hard-working staff at City Hall for the thousands of hours spent on these projects that have spanned the administrations of three mayors.

“I’m just glad we were able to see it through completion,” he said.

This is the third recognition for Peekskill’s waterfront in as many years, as you’d be hard pressed to find a better spot in the Hudson Valley than the Peekskill Waterfront—the sunsets alone are reason enough to check it out. The Scenic Hudson Park at Peekskill Landing and the Southern Waterfront Park and Trailway are perfect for a leisurely stroll, bike ride or simply just a place to relax and one can’t help but be entranced by the vistas of the river, coupled, as they are, with the beauty of rolling hills in the distance.
