A source tells The Peekskill Post that search and rescue crews have found a man’s body on the Westchester side of the Hudson River near Peekskill Tuesday evening. The find comes hours after an individual, believed to be the male recovered in the Hudson, was caught on video jumping off of the Bear Mountain Bridge at 2:15 pm. The search and rescue operation got underway at 5:42 p.m.

When asked why a jumper caught on video around 2:15 p.m. was not noticed until several hours later, a source said the following:

“Troopers normally find a subject’s vehicle on the bridge and then replay the tapes. If nobody saw the person jump, it could take hours until they find out.”

We will have more information as it becomes available.
