Arthur Weeks and Son Jewelers celebrated 120 years of doing business in Peekskill Saturday, as friends, family and loyal customers from around the area spent the day browsing their wonderful collections of fine jewelry and enjoying food, beverages and live entertainment.
“The turnout of people is amazing and is what this community is all about,” said fourth-generation owner John Weeks as he helped a customer pick out an item. “Four generations, 120 years, it has been great and I am excited to keep it going!”
John’s son, Robert, helped serve wine and may be the next to take over. John’s parents, Doug and Nancy Weeks, were also on hand.
“We have been very fortunate,” said Nancy, as she sat next to her husband Doug and took in the scene. “Today has been wonderful and this is the fourth generation now, with John running it. It started with Doug’s father’s father and Doug was excited when John decided to take over.”
In fact, according to Powers PR Video President & CEO Bill Powers, Doug and Nancy met at the store!
Violinist Daisy Jopling entertained with some awesome holiday music and Jim Witt was on hand signing and selling the Hope for Youth long-range weather calendars.
As a special thank you to customers, Weeks will be offering 20 percent off all in-stock merchandise through Dec. 24. Be sure to register to win a ladies 1.20 ct. total-weight diamond anniversary band or one of twelve $120 gift certificates! Drawings to be held Christmas Eve.
A portion of the day’s proceeds will be donated to the Hope for Youth Foundation, the Salvation Army of Peekskill, Friends of Karen and the Field Library.
